“Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.”
“When I sit down to write a book, I do not say to myself, ‘I am going to produce a work of art.’ I write it because there is some lie that I want to expose, some fact to which I want to draw attention, and my initial concern is to get a hearing.”
Yesterday, I finally started writing a story that has been in my head for months, it has been plaguing me like a disease!, and now I have suddenly stumbled upon George Orwell’s words through a most unusual means! I spoke the first aloud (in a round about way) to my father. He pointed this out, being the usual fountain of knowledge he is that it was very close to what George Orwell had said. Clearly these words are a reminiscent memory from my studies of Animal Farm at school, but I couldn’t help but still find it a little freaky though. Perhaps this is a sign of things to come? *fingers crossed* we will have to see!.
