Hello My fellow page turners and wordsmiths,
With all the building and such going on at the moment in the house its quite difficult to set aside the time to read or even find a place thats not coverd in dust and debris to sit down in comfort. Short of holding up beneath the stairs im somewhat at a loss for a space to chill and read.
But that got me thinking about book nooks, and how nice it would be to have one once all the work has been done in the house.
Creating a reading nook in your home is a calm and gentle reminder for us to slow down and appreciate our surroundings. After a bit of traulling through the internet, I came across these helpful tips and tricks to decorate a cosy reading space, so i tohught I would share them with you all
Find a good spot in your home
Choose a quiet, cosy and comforting corner in your home for your reading nook. Think of a space where you can read in peace without being disturbed by other people. An underused corner in your bedroom or child’s room may serve as inspiration for you to decorate it.
Ensure the room is well lit, possibly by a large window, and where possible a stoop or bench could be installed underneath it to give it a more enclosed cosy feel
Another option could be a cosy reading nook under the stairs, which would be great for lounging and saves a lot of space.
Choose your colour palette
Be aware that whatever colour pallet you choose will set the scene and tone of tour space. Light and soothing colours are the natural first option here but it’s important to consider small pops of colour that can brighten up your space and anchor the room.
The simple, light hues create a soothing and welcoming space ideal for kicking back and relaxing while introducing colourful accents adds character and charm to the space. In this case, the orange armchair adds a cheerful element to the reading corner and brings the room together with its bold colour.
Make a statement with wall art
Decorate your reading corner by adding personal touches to the walls. Think of your wall as an empty canvas with framed motivational quotes from your favourite novel or author, quirky wall decal or bold artwork to brighten up the space.
Or in our case probably lots of movie and anime inspired Displates, we are on a bit of a Displare binge at the moment.
I think that about covers it, I would love to do the under the stairs nook, but unfortunatley at the moment I think thats a no go, where would your book nook be? Do you have one already? if so I would love to hear about it, let me know in the comments section below.
