Hello my fellow bookworms and page turners. I hope you are enjoying my Crime week! this post we are going to be looking at Eleven days, which is book two the Carrigan and Miller series written expertly by Stav Sherez.
Despite the fact that this is the second novel in the series, it can be read easily as a standalone. Protagonist Carrigan has lost his wife a few years ago, and ever since he’s had a bitter, grim look on life especially around Christmas. So he is pretty relieved when he and his partner Miller are put on a very strange scene.
Carrigan and Miller are called onto the scene of fire, and when they reach the scene they realize the house ablaze is not just a regular house but a convent. A fireman discovers the bodies of ten nuns upstairs. Instead of fleeing like anyone would do when panicking, the nuns’ bodies lie in peculiar positions, like they didn’t stir at all. They discover an old chapel downstairs in which they find another body. The problem? There should only have been ten nuns in the house. So who is the eleventh victim? And why was she here? The more Carrigan and Miller get buried in the case, the more complicated it becomes.
This is a prime example of a Crime novel that really makes you think, it’s incredibly complicated, and most of the pieces don’t add up until the last minute, its heavy on suspense and has so many dead ends twists and turns even a Maze architect would have a few issues. Unbelievably despite this it doesn’t take away from how good the story is, the writing is fluid although a little wordy in places.
Stav definitely knows what he is talking about, he doesn’t just throw random facts and made-up snippets at the reader the stories he builds are mostly true, at least in regards to the history and the methods of drug cartels this as a whole makes the story a lot more creditable despite the fact that it is still fiction.
in short It is thought provoking, highly disturbing, captivating and gripping from first page to last and certainly not a book I will forget in a hurry. If you like deep literature with a twist, this is certainly the book for you!
